Blogs I read

No music or music tech blogs

I must say, I’m not familiar with any other music production blogs that discuss things like imagination, visualising, mindset, and such. I mostly read blogs within the so-called personal development category, which I believe are more useful, both for music creation and plenty other areas in one’s life.

At least within electronic dance music, where I “come from”, I never hear any discussion among producers about storytelling. Topics about inspiration and creativity arise from time to time, but I feel that these often focus on the music creation as a mechanical process. It’s art, not engineering.

There’s nothing directly about music on these blogs, but lots of good advice, life wisdom, and well written enjoyable posts. Far more useful for your mind and imagination than computer music’s “step-by-step” or “how to sound like” articles. Those are good for music engineering; not so much for the sadly overlooked storytelling aspect of it.
